Wings West Protegé Mazda

Wings West spent months developing a product line for the Protegé. "We've just included the products we developed into our new catalog." Says Bunnell of the tedious process involved with designing and manufacturing quality body components. Included in this development cycle: MPS series front bumper, Extreme fender flares for the front and rear, Skyliner rear wing with carbon fiber center blade, side skirts, a rear lower wrap and a two-piece hood bonnet, all manufactured in urethane.

The car won SEMA's "best of show" award at the 2001 show and the "best-overall dressed up car" award at the 2002 SEMA IAS show. Of course, a lot more than bodywork went into the MP3. Autometer gauges, a Sherwood carbon fiber dash kit and Cobra seats customized by Stitchcraft with Schroth racing harnesses sported up the interior. Other body-altering nods include: Toucan industries Euro taillights, and Modern Image Signworks graphics.

Hard parts like Enkei wheels, Pirelli tires, Eibach springs and StopTech front brakes give the MP3 a bigger stick to back up its aggressive image. To further aid the stoplight aggression, Wings West had Area 51 install a Vortech supercharger, MagnaFlow cat back stainless steel exhaust system and AEM cold air intake.

As if the estimated 200 horsepower wasn't entertainment enough, an Alpine audio system with three video monitors, a DVD player, Navigation unit and CD player was installed.
